Anyone who knows me and my work best, knows that this piece is close to my heart. This was my first self-published piece with the encouragement of my parents. A poplar publishing company advised they would never print a sleeping bobcat - and it is the first print edition to completely sell out. My father who was diagnosed with cancer after the completion of this piece, strongly supported it going into print and gave me love and support in doing so. Him being a worried father for his single daughter perusing an art career in America; he was anxious to see this in print, see my success and also give him something to look forward to through his battle with cancer. Shortly after this piece was in print, it was on cable television, Eyewitness News and several newspapers - and my father was able to hear of all the excellent news. This piece, made my career soar and my father so proud. The original sold for $600.00 and resold for $11,000.00 a few years later. The collector who purchased the painting, has been a wonderful collector over the years and knew exactly what this piece meant to me and my family. He promised to gift the painting to me in his will, but last Christmas (2006) he decided he wanted to see my expression while he was living! I am so very thankful and happy to say, "Soft Repose" is home again, with me.
