This European hedgehog was a frequent visitor to my parent’s garden, back in England. As children we would put a saucer of milk outside the porch knowing this would attract them. They are very shy animals that curl up into a ball if you get too close. Hedgehogs are a welcomed guest in any English garden; they eat the snails, slugs and insects that eat the flowers and vegetables! They are sadly in decline due to the loss of the English hedgerows.
