These youthful wolves are playing in the winter months, in Montana. The need to play is integral within a wolf pack as it breaks up tension and is often instigated by the lowest ranking member of the pack. This has an added benefit to the omega wolf, in that he/she doesn’t get picked on as much. One wolf is grabbing the nose of the other, while the third is trying to get in on the play. At first glance many have thought there were only two wolves with way too many legs!
